The reasons behind this project are here. In essence, aside from being a novelist, I am a Navy wife trying to finance what the military will not cover of our move from Yokosuka, Japan, to Virginia in mid-February. We have a beautiful dog that we must crate and transport three times, and we do not want to have to leave her behind. We are facing a great deal of expense in the next few months, and unfortunately, the military only helps so much.
And so I came up with the idea for this project. Many bloggers simply post a donation button when crisis strikes, but I just didn't feel comfortable with that. I want to offer something genuinely special in trade. So I offer this.
An old wine in a new cask: a serial novel, told over 6 months. New chapters will appear on the website every Monday night at 8pm EST, beginning January 10th. There will also be monthly live chats with the characters, original graphics to accompany selected chapters, themed icons posted in this community for subscriber use, Quizilla quizzes, and a prize raffle at the end of the serial run. And, of course, this community, for discussion and the having of the fun. There is also a Yahoo group so that you can be immediately notified when new chapters have been posted. The first subscribers will also get to choose which book I write from a list of four.
Subscriptions are $10. If you would like to pay more than $10, by all means, do so. Every little bit helps us to keep our dog and make it back home safely. Subscribers who go above and beyond will get an extra literary surprise.
10% of all subscriptions will go to the International Red Cross to help with tsunami disaster relief.
Membership in this community is open, but please do not vote in polls unless you are a subscriber. Any and all discussion of the novel is welcome, as well as social gabbery and "hello, my name is" posts. This is an open playground for subscribers.
Click the button below to subscribe, and you will be issued a password to the website--then tune in on January 10th! Feel free to post here before then--and don't forget to vote in the novel poll!
Also, please try to get the word out as much as possible. Every little bit helps. Thank you all so much.
